Our English Tea No.1 is a unique blend of elegant black teas with a subtle hint of bergamot. A delightfully balanced cuppa, it’s perfect for those seeking a more genteel approach to classic British tea.
Our Tea Masters combine Ceylon, Kenyan and Assam teas to create this blend. They use a high proportion of Ceylon from Sri Lanka’s hilly central tea gardens, where the finest and most delicate teas come from. This gives the blend its brisk, lively quality, which we enhance with a touch of our signature bergamot flavouring. Distinctive yet delicately fragrant, our English Tea No. 1 makes a delightfully uplifting brew. Serve with a splash of milk or enjoy with lemon to bring out the tea’s citrusy notes.
We chose William Lionel Wyllie’s colourful painting "Opening of Tower Bridge" for the design of the caddy/packet. A scene that celebrates British excellence seemed appropriate.

Water
The quality of water used as an impact on the quality of the tea. Always use freshly drawn water or filtered water. Heat water to the recommended temperature using an electric hot water heater or a stove top kettle.
Temperature
Heat fresh water to a rolling boil or to a temperature of 100C.
Infusion Time
Once the water reaches the appropriate temperature, it should be poured immediately over the tea bag.Keep the teapot covered to retain heat. Time steeping carefully and infuse for 5 minutes. When the tea is done steeping, immediately remove the tea and lightly stir.
This black tea has more caffeine than teas in our green tea range. It's important to keep in mind that brew time accounts for the primary influence over a tea's caffeine content.
